Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026Tonight is a sleep companion for iPhone and Apple Watch made by the tosleep.ai team ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and what you control.
What stays on your devices
- Raw sensor data — wrist motion and heart-rate samples recorded overnight by the Watch — never leaves your Watch and iPhone. It is reduced on the Watch to 30-second summaries (a stage estimate and a few numbers per epoch).
- Apple Health — with your permission we read sleep, heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, blood oxygen and wrist temperature to show your sleep report and to calibrate the Watch's estimates. We never write to Health and never upload Health data.
- Your morning feedback (how you felt, optional notes) is stored on your iPhone.
What is sent to our servers, and only if you sign in
- Nightly summaries (per-epoch stage estimates and compact features, a few kilobytes per night), your morning feeling, calibration results, and the onboarding answers you chose (as tags such as goal:wakeGently).
- Your account is identified by Sign in with Apple. We store the Apple user identifier and the name you choose to share. We do not store passwords or your email unless you give it to us for support.
- Servers run on Cloudflare (Workers and D1). Data is used only to sync your nights across devices, to show family members the fields described below, and to produce the AI features you request.
AI features
When you ask for a weekly review or chat with the assistant, we send aggregated numbers only — durations, cycle counts, percentages — to Google's Gemini API through our server. We do not send stage sequences, heart-rate or motion data, notes, or your name. Requests are rate-limited per account and are not used to train models by us.
Family sharing
If you invite someone (or accept an invite), each of you can see the other's last night only: how long you slept, when you fell asleep, the number of cycles, and the morning feeling. Nothing else. Either side can end the link at any time.
Screen Time (Bedtime Lock)
If you enable Bedtime Lock, the app uses Apple's Screen Time framework on your device to shield the apps you choose. Your app selection is stored on your device as opaque tokens; we cannot see which apps you picked.
Your controls
- Export everything the app holds as a JSON file (Settings → My data).
- Delete local data, or delete your account and all server data with one tap (Settings → Account). Deletion is immediate and permanent.
- Revoke Health, Motion, Notification or Screen Time permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Not medical advice
Sleep stages shown by Tonight are estimates from wrist sensors, not clinical measurements. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis or treatment. If you have a sleep disorder, talk to a doctor.

Optional website analytics
On our public website, we use Google Analytics only after you choose Allow analytics. It measures page visits, referral sources and general device information using analytics cookies. We do not add this website measurement to the app, account dashboard or authenticated API, and do not send sleep records or health data to it. We remove URL query strings and fragments from page addresses sent by this code and disable advertising personalization.
You can decline, or change your choice at any time using Cookie settings. Declining stops this website measurement and removes its analytics cookies. We also honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. Your choice is saved locally in your browser. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
